Martin’s Blog 15th February

It’s warming up! That’s not all good news though….at 5.20am the realisation that the thaw had started and a burst pipe had flooded the Team and Owner Bathrooms and we had no electricity. Thankfully the electricity issue was rectified quickly and back on and the water to the toilets turned off.

Our Yardman, Lucjan, arrives at 7am and quite literally he can put his hand to anything – he has been with us for over 10 years and is brilliant. Not one crossed word with anyone in those years and he fixes and mends everything! With the help of our Landlord’s helper Tomaz, they spent the day sorting the leak and our wonderful electrician, Paul Hughes, was also here in no time and the electricity in the office and internet were back up and running quickly too.

Valentine’s Day over for another year and brownie points for me for sure! We weren’t able to turn the horses out yesterday as the fields were still too frozen so we rode out some of the team and Vicki, James Best and Harry Stock were in to join Beth riding out as she was already here for her weekend working. Those that didn’t go out yesterday did a steady canter this morning and the others were able to do a little bit more work.

No runners today or tomorrow but this morning I declared Miss Antipova for Hereford on Wednesday and Dariya for Kempton on the all weather on the same day so a day for the girls!

Happy Birthday to two of our owners today. We’d like to wish both Pip Frankish and also Grahame Lovett very happy Lockdown birthdays. So long since we have seen either of them, as with so many of you we are missing – we can’t wait to see you all back in the yard and at the races soon.
