It was fantastic to welcome Steve Harman to the yard this morning especially as he’s not managed to get to us for quite some months so hasn’t seen any of the new improvements we’ve been working so hard on. Steve is not only Chairman of the BHA but he runs the Daydream Believers Partnership that own Altesse De Guye and has been an owner with us for quite some years. We very much welcome his opinion, however honest and harsh it may be at times, so for him to be visibly impressed by what we are all working so hard to try and achieve was very satisfying.
Steve watched Altesse De Guye work up the gallops this morning and was pleased with how she worked, as was I. We also worked Enforcement, The Kvilleken, Cotswold Prince, Cottersrock, Papal Bull 4 year old and Solstice Star, Ballymountain Boy and Chequered View just did a swinging canter.
Yard sponsor Ross Hemming was here this morning too overseeing his team who are working so hard on our loop which has not only been widened but had a new carpet surface laid on it which is nearly finished. It will be a fantastic asset to the yard when it’s finished and that should be within the next week and we can’t wait.
Neil Lloyd, a school friend of Belinda’s and a member of our Martin Keighley Racing Club, called in with son Jack and we had a catch up and a look around the horses.
August is a month full of birthdays and today’s very happy birthday is for the owner of Chequered View, HRH The Princess Royal.
