Conor Shoemark in this morning and we took the opportunity to school Gold Mountain, Cotswold Prince, Enforcement, Raving Bonkers and Fairmount over hurdles and Harry Greasby on school holidays learning his trade on our schoolmaster Champion Court giving some of those a lead. Abi Stock in too ahead of her Charity race at York and Beth Whittle also in to ride out.
A long trip North to Pontefract for the first time with runners. Primogeniture’s race was cutting up and we therefore took the opportunity of declaring him for our Racing Club although he is the outsider of the six. Joe Fanning rides and he shares the trip with Sarasota Star who has run some solid races and was unsuited by Kempton Park last time. We are hopeful this track will suit him better and he has the assistance of Graham Lee in the saddle.
Although we had no runners this weekend there was plenty of fantastic sport including Tiger Woods’ triumph in the Masters. Before that our youngest son Harry scored a goal for Northleach Under 9s to help them win 11-6 against Slimbridge. He’d played about 7 hours of football the day before whilst staying with Event Rider Jonty Evans’ son Charlie and they both clearly benefited from it as Charlie scored a hat-trick!
Freddie went to Arena UK in Grantham yesterday aiming to qualify his Shetland Pony ‘Blackie’ for their Grand National Series at shows during the summer all over the country with the aim of qualifying for Olympia at Christmas. They had a fun day and all went well so they are very excited about the summer ahead. Thanks to Allen and Boni Webb for so generously offering to sponsor Freddie’s for the season. Not only will their logos appear on his breeches but he is also very lucky to have a very smart Webblite saddle too.
