Sadly we didn’t manage to buy Jazzy back last night at the Newmarket Sales which was a real shame as he’d won on the flat for us the day before at Lingfield making that two wins on the all-weather, a win on the turf and two wins over hurdles for us and he’s only 4 but the partnership wanted to be disolved so it was the fairest way to do so by sending him to the Sales. I really felt for Issy Mangan who not only led him up when he won the night before but rode him in her Charity Race last week at Newbury and had to drive home with an empty box last night and made even tougher as he’s off to Kuwait (Freddie worked out that’s over 3700 miles). Good luck Jazzy and your new connections.
Overcast today and the horses will be doing fast work tomorrow so just two canters for most of them this morning. We have a few entries on Sunday at Southwell and Stratford so plenty of decisions to be made and phone calls to agents and other trainers to see who runs and then jockey juggling when we see which way the races split.
Continuing to work on and around the yard with improvements plus tidying and smartening. Horses starting to come back in although we’ve never been that quiet as we’ve had plenty of youngsters and some flat horses in all summer too. Most of the team have had their holidays and it will be good to kick on with the full team in the next few weeks. Without wishing the summer away (the boys break up next week for 6 weeks!) I’m always looking forward to the autumn and think we’ve got the most exciting team we’ve had for quite some time with some very promising youngsters too. Still a couple of horses for sale and a new partnership to be launched any day with a lease horse so no up front costs – give me a call to come and meet us and see our facilities if you are interested.
