Martin’s Blog 13th March

A beautiful red sky greeted us this morning and that’s been followed by glorious sunshine – a perfect day before The Festival!

Jon & Jack Hughes and Simon Hayman-Joyce and Lizzie were in first lot to watch Thady Quil school and work under Andrew Tinkler. We were all delighted with how he went and he now hopefully heads to Towcester on Thursday. We may have a few runners there including Ballymountain Boy, City Never Sleeps and maybe Brillare Momento too.

Yesterday we were at Warwick with Lerichi Belle making her debut over hurdles under Andrew Tinkler. We were pleased with her jumping and she definitely switched off a lot better than she has done in her bumpers – she still needs to settle eve more but a big step forward.

Belinda & I were invited to have lunch with the Directors at Warwick which was delicious and entertaining too and they kindly allowed us to take our owners up to have a drink afterwards too – all very much appreciated so thank you Warwick.

Busy here this morning with Maggie Turner, our physio, in along with Nick Partridge our farrier and Ollie Garner & Steve Adams brought us a delivery of their top quality hay. They supply us with our Natural Flakes bedding too.

No runners today at Stratford – we had hoped to have at least two but the ground has gone against them. Those of you going though please look out for Belinda as she is joining the Macmillan Team raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support. David Bishop, part owner of Bobble Emerald, has kindly offered to help her so do give generously if you see either of them as you make your way home from the races – we hope you back plenty of winners and are feeling generous!!

Then tomorrow … it all starts! Hope to see plenty of visitors here throughout the week and lots of you at the Course too. Any Currency will be our next runner – two days and not much sleep away!
