Martin’s Blog 13th August

Schooling morning thanks to the rain we had yesterday – it was some storm – on top of the watering I’ve been doing to the schooling ground. James Best & Lilly Pinchin in to school and one extra making her schooling ground debut – more about that later!!

The team have been amazing pulling out 1st lot before 6am to beat the heat and they managed to muck out too yesterday morning as some stayed in just in case we had lightning and they still pulled out on time. All four lots out and back before 9.30am – top team.

This morning we schooled Be Thankful, Raving Bonkers, Eclat Des Mottes, Beneagles, Sarasota Star, Capricia, Ben Buie, Robsam, Lord Condi, Enforcement, Pinnacle Peak, Solstice Star, Gold Mountain, City Never Sleeps and then Mr Mafia led Dreamsundermyfeet and Mozzaro over the last two hurdles and I persuaded Belinda out of retirement to lead them on Mr Mafia! She couldn’t have been on a better schoolmaster although we didn’t work out until afterwards that she’d never ever jumped them as she retired from jumping fences at speed after Freddie was born in 2008 and we’ve moved our schooling ground since then. He looked after her!

Great to have our Yardman Lucjan back from his 6 week holiday. He wasn’t furloughed as we always have so much for him to do so we’ve all had to pull together and try and cover him over the last 6 weeks! It’s a relief and fantastic to have him back. He usually goes back to Poland and brings Belinda back some strong Vodka – not this year as he decided to stay here.

August is always busy with birthdays and today we wish Pete Wilson a very happy birthday – Pete is always smiling, takes wonderful photos which he gives up his time so generously to take and is an owner here too – top man.
