Such poignant scenes yesterday in Scotland, so emotional…
Apologies to those members of the public who missed the email from Great British Racing advising that our Open Day, as part of National Racehorse Week, and turned up yesterday but massive thanks to our Head Girl, Jasmin, for showing lots of people that arrived around the yard. As HRH The Princess Royal and Zara Tindall have been owners with us for quite some time we simply didn’t feel it was the thing to do by opening our gates yesterday, so once again we are sorry for those that were disappointed. We won’t be re-scheduling but would love to see you all next year – the provisional date is 10th September 2023.
On to Worcester today with two runners. Our first runner is Genovese who we bought as a foal and who runs in the striking red heart colours of Joe Saumarez-Smith, Chairman of the BHA, who owns 50% of him along with a supportive group of owners who make up the other 50% in the Martin Keighley Racing Partnership 9. He makes his debut today and whilst he goes nicely at home and gives us plenty of hope for a big run, to look at him he’s still quite leggy and weak looking so I cannot wait to see him on the track. He’s got a super attitude and hopefully will have an enjoyable time of it today. Sean Bowen rides.
Our other runner is ‘The Great’ Debden Bank who is adored by Ernie who looks after him and rides him out every day and also his fun bunch of owners too. He is the outsider of the field, is partnered by James Best as usual, and we hope he builds upon his more encouraging run last time out.
Good luck to them both.
