Martin’s Blog – 12th May

A fun Saturday morning with lots of visitors. Top local vet Ben Brain was here to perform a vetting on one of our lovely youngsters…more about him later but Ben was in great form and, after the important business was done, he was highly entertaining!

Owner Jo Stainer was in first lot for a catch up and Chairman Jon Hughes also here – luckily we can’t keep him away! Second lot we were joined by Mark Allen and Kate Docker to see their lovely 4 year old by Sulamani and also Zofia Trembecka-Ross to watch her mare Sugar Storm on the gallops. A thoroughly enjoyable morning and plenty of laughter which is always good! Plenty of plans made too.

One runner tonight for the Martin Keighley Racing Club – Primogeniture at Warwick in the first. He ran well last time at Towcester and it’s a competitive enough race tonight but the ground should suit.

Tomorrow we are excited to have the famous Champion Court/Creepy colours back in action with Back on the Lash making his racecourse debut at Ludlow for Mark Boothright and new owners to the yard Grahame Lovett and Pete Deffains – three Jersey boys and a very suitable named horse for them too! Three great friends and I’m hopeful he will confirm on the track what he shows us at home as he seems a nice horse and I’m looking forward to his debut.

I’m going to Ludlow via Haydock Park as Freddie is riding in a Pony Club Raceday there on his little pony Bubbles.
