Biblical rain last night after evening stables which caught out poor Sian who was riding out her Point to Pointer and Freddie on his racing pony. They waited for it to pass but it didn’t so they braved the elements and got absolutely soaked…any not long after they returned to the dry stables then it stopped! Thankfully the gallop survived the torrential flood that headed down our walkway and sat on the grass by the half way mark.
The plus of the rain (17mm in about an hour!) was that our schooling ground was perfect for this morning’s schooling session where Sean Bowen was in to school a few horses including Herecomeshogan, First Angel, Duke of Luckley, Spanish Present, Brianna Rose and Genovese. We also schooled Bella Ciao, Ten Past Midnight, Pinnacle Peak and Dreamsundermyfeet. Freddie schooled Mr Mafia before school over fences for the first time and Sean O’Connor was in to school Pattern Cutter ahead of his point to point run tomorrow.
Market Rasen this afternoon and Brian Hughes partners both our runners. Zestful steps up to 3 miles over hurdles and we hope she can build upon her 2nd at Cheltenham last time out and she seems well but it’s a very competitive race. Debden Bank is our other runner and we are all hoping that he can make it a birthday to remember for his best friend Ernesta who looks after him and rides him every day. She’ll not be happy I’ve mentioned her birthday here!
