Thanks for all the birthday messages – another year older! Paul Davis, Leigh & Sarah Powell and Chris & Emma Pittaway were all in to watch the horses work this morning and James Best & Freddie were in to ride out.
We head down to Newton Abbot with Steve & Helen Sugden’s First Angel today running in a two horse race taking on the Dan Skelton serial winner Beorma bidding for her sixth win in just a couple of weeks. Odds heavily stacked against us but we’ll try our best. Freddie is in the saddle tonight.
Best Mate Dave ran yesterday for Martin Bent ridden by Harry Atkins. Oli Hayes has trained him point to pointing but they were keen to run him under Rules so he transferred to us just a few days more than the compulsory 14 full day period. He was flat out for most of the race yesterday and Harry sensibly pulled him up. He’ll now have a well deserved summer holiday.
Exam season is nearly over for Harry who sat his second last exam today. Last day at school, ever, on Monday. He’s not as desperate to leave school as Freddie was – all Freddie wanted to do was race ride and whilst Harry is also racing mad, he’s had a great bunch of friends at school and has enjoyed the social side and hopefully done a little bit of work too! Exam results, whilst important, are not the be all and end all – a good work ethic is far more important!
