Martin’s Blog 12th June

Be Thankful ran a much better race yesterday at Lingfield in balmy sunny weather whilst it did not stop lashing down with rain here at home. She settled better and galloped all the way to the line finishing a close 3rd and Sylvestre De Sousa’s feedback was, as you would expect, interesting and encouraging too. We’ll stick with galloping tracks, she liked the softened ground and we will ride her more prominently next time over further too.

Breeder James Richardson was pleased and we had a good day with a few members of our Racing Club present too. Lingfield on the flat and mid week was never going to be oversubscribed but those that went had fun.

Will Humphries from Topspec called in late morning to catch up with us. We use both Topspec and Spillers and are always looking to improve the feed the horses have and help them stay as healthy as possible. He samples our haylage too to ensure it is of top quality as well.

The horses just cantered today and it was a relief for the team to not ride out in the rain for a change. Jasmin is in at the deep end as Head Girl as she is in charge whilst Foxy, our Assistant, has a well earned few weeks off.
