An early start this morning as Ballymountain Boy heads to Kempton Park for a Novices’ Handicap Chase under James Best. He is 8lbs better off with Celtic Joy, who beat him on his chasing debut back at Kempton recently, and if he improves from that experience, with a bit of luck he should be thereabouts today.
Back at the yard, as usual, physio Maggie Turner and Farrier Nick Partridge in this morning and, whilst pretty windy the weather has given us a welcome break from the rain. We are so fortunate that the floods that are devastating other parts of the country don’t affect us as we are so high. I can’t imagine the upheaval of having your house flooded and also worrying about your animals too – crazy we were praying for rain until recently as racecourses were too quick.
James Best and Leighton Aspell both in this morning and we schooled Miss Antipova, Ben Buie, Samtara, World War, Lucky Circle, Chequered View, Lord Condi, Big Nasty, Forecast, Back on the Lash and Enforcement.
Paul Davis is in Ireland with Gerry Hogan at the Foal Sales so fingers crossed.
