Cold, windy and showers this morning – much needed rain but still a bit of a shock in mid May! It’s always colder up here on the top of the Cotswolds too so our horses are always rugged up more than most we see around.
Southwell today with Prairie Diamond (Freddie) for Nigel McAllen hoping to follow up his win last time out. We are hoping the Handicapper is correct as he has not only been put up once for that win but twice, 10lbs in the first week and then a further 3lbs which on the face of it seems harsh as the jockeys of the beaten horses allowed Diamond a very easy lead and let him get too far away! Also nothing he beat has come out and won next time – a few have finished 2nd but we’ll see today! Good luck all.
Redbridge Rambler had a day out in the field, as usual, yesterday and seems fresh and well following his win. It was so good to get him back into the Winners’ Enclosure and it will be good if he can follow up again next time out.
A quietish week this week with only one more entry – Piecederesistance has entries at Newbury on Friday and Doncaster on Saturday so we’ll look at the ground and the races before deciding which way he goes.
Meanwhile, more steam cleaning and tidying/sorting is continuing in the yard – a good spring clean!
