Michael Chitty was in today to watch his youngster, Bluey Bay, on the gallops and to say farewell to Ten Past Midnight who has been retired and is off to pastures new next week. We ensure that these wonderful horses find the best homes in retirement and Sian has kindly found him what looks like a super home and we hope he’ll have a long and happy retirement.

Yesterday Adrian Grimmitt was in to watch Postponed Legacy and Colin Roberts was in to watch his Worcester winner, She Has Notions on the gallops.

Belinda, Freddie, Harry & I returned from a wonderful week in Cyprus not long before the team started here on Monday morning as the flight was a bit delayed. We were only going to be able to have 3 – 4 hours sleep anyway but as it happened sleep didn’t occur! Belinda & I headed to Worcester to saddle Blazing Court. The only owner of his syndicate able to be there was David Maughan but David Parry, John Thackray and Phil James watched from afar as he ran an absolute belter under Sean Bowen to grab 2nd place on the line. For much of the race a place didn’t look possible but Sean explained that he needs further and was struggling to keep up with the pace. However he jumped well and he surprised us by staying on all the way up to the straight to finish 2nd – a 2nd I was pleased with for a change!

The thoughts of everyone, not only just those of us in racing, are with racing commentator John Hunt following the cruel and senseless loss of his wife Carol and daughters Hannah and Louise. Horrendous news and completely unfathomable. Just so cruel…..
