An exciting and busy few days with new recruits and the team working their socks off even more than usual in the run up to our Open Day on Sunday at the start of National Racehorse Week. Thanks to all of the team – we are very lucky to have the team we do have and the horses are too. We are looking for another member of the team too so do get in touch if you are interested in joining us.
I had a productive day at Doncaster Sales on Wednesday with David Parry and we secured both Mahanakon Power and Ambassador who have both settled in well and seem very nice horses. Mick Appleby was very honest with me about Mahanakon Power and Ambassador was owned by current owners with us Mark Boothright and Richard Lloyd. Both have decent form and will have a short break before cracking on with them.
Richard Kinsey delivered Big Nasty back looking superb from his summer holiday yesterday. He always looks bigger when I’ve not seen him for a while! Thanks to Will Kinsey and his team, they do such a fantastic job. Good luck to Will too as he is a big part of Thoroughbid who launch their first online auction on Sunday. Miranda Theobald and Warren Marston in to ride out this morning. We worked Brorson, Brianna Rose, Mr Mafia, Duke of Luckley, Samtara, Ten Past Midnight, Capricia, She Has Notions, Witness Protection, Sarasota Star, Herecomeshogan, Cloud Formation and Mozzaro. The rest did a swinging canter or just cantered.
This afternoon Batsford Stud kindly invited lots of our Racing Club Members to watch a parade of their stunning Stallions, see the youngsters and mares on their beautiful Batsford Estate and enjoy Anna & Alan Varey’s wonderful hospitality. We were spoilt with plenty of fizz and delicious cakes and we thank the Varey’s and their whole team for looking after us so well. There are still places in our Racing Club so do get in touch if you are interested in finding out more. It isn’t just about watching our horses win and run well on the racecourse but our members make life long friends and enjoy their company in events like today too and become great friends of us at the yard.
