Martin’s Blog 10th October

Shinji ran a good race on his hurdling debut yesterday to finish 2nd under Brian Hughes to a nice looking Twiston-Davies horse. He jumped well and just tired from turning in on his first start for nearly six months.

This morning we had two new arrivals which is always exciting. Springs A Girl arrived from Ireland at 5am, she was the first drop off and the lorry was packed full. She’s for a new partnership and won her bumper at Listowel with the fourth franking the form by winning well over hurdles at the weekend. She’s already out in the field and loving the Cotswold grass! Nearer to home we had a delivery from Claire Hart’s Blockley base when A Wish Away arrived for a syndicate headed by current owner Stefan Hibbert. She’s a mare that they are hoping has just needed time and Claire has given her plenty of TLC and she has been bringing her over regularly to use our gallops so it will be a home from home for her.

Leigh and Sarah Powell called in to see their horses and it was great to see Leigh moving so well following a recent hip replacement. Their horses are now full of carrots!

It was a stunning morning here – misty as the sun came up so hopefully Dan our drone man has captured some dramatic shots. We worked a few of the horses including Enforcement, Ballyvango, Another Day Out, She Has Notions, Bobbi’s Beauty, Zestful, Ten Past Midnight, Ben Buie, Kalibrate, Myfanwy’s Magic, Brianna Rose and Wide To West. Prairie Diamond and Borderline went to Ben Brain’s to have overground scopes – we are so fortunate to have him so close as the who’s who of horseboxes that are there most days come from far and wide!
