Martin’s Blog 10th May

A lovely sunny day and great to get the horses out in the fields without rugs. We are quite windy up here so we tend to have at least one rug more than everyone else but today is beautiful.

Most horses just having a couple of canters this morning as most worked yesterday. Great to see the young horses progressing and enjoying their work – always very satisfying.

Brillare Momento is a surprise declaration to some at Newton Abbot this afternoon where she is a short priced favourite following her recent Cheltenham win. Not a surprise to me however as it is decent prize money and straight after Cheltenham we decided to go today and I’ve been in regular contact with Clerk of the Course Jason Loosemore to ensure safe good ground. They do a fantastic job there and I enjoy going there. It would be great if she could jump round and win as easily as the betting suggests….often it isn’t as simple as that though!

Belinda meanwhile is representing us both at the funeral of dear owner Patrick Spittle this afternoon in Cheltenham. I’m sure he will get a good send of. He was a special man and we really miss him here. Thoughts with his family on a difficult day.
