A bizarre evening at Uttoxeter last night where Duke of Luckley’s race was abandoned, along with the concluding bumper, as the racecourse decided that the light wouldn’t be safe enough to run following a horse getting stuck in the Open Ditch whilst loose during the 3rd race. A real freak accident and thankfully the horse in question was removed from the ditch and is perfectly A1 accordingly to Trainer Alisdair Ralph but it needed sedating in order to remove it safely and therefore it resulted in a 105 minute delay to the card.
So frustrating for his owners, especially those who had travelled to the track and obviously for Paddy & Duke who had a wasted journey to Uttoxeter but horse welfare must be at the forefront of all of our actions at all times and it was simply a freak “accident” that no one could be blamed for. Uttoxeter’s Owners & Trainers’ Bar turned into a free bar as a gesture of goodwill and the Course have assured us they’ll be in touch today. They’ll be another day for Duke.
Work morning and James Best and Finn Lambert both in and we worked Mr Mafia, Blazing Court, Duke of Luckley, Debden Bank, Borderline and Windy Cove. Paul Davis in to watch the horses on the gallops.
No runners today but Cut & Run heads to Worcester tomorrow evening with Finn Lambert once again in the saddle. She needs to pull her finger out for our Racing Club as she’s been incredibly disappointing yet seems fresh & well at home – wish they could talk?!
We have a birthday in the Team – Happy Birthday Jasmin!
