Despite having no runners for a few days it seems as if we have been in a bit of a whirlwind with lots of visitors and a lot going on. Jonathan Clyde was here this morning and watched Cotswold Prince on the gallops and went to see Capricia enjoying her summer holiday.
On Saturday 40 plus members and friends of Foxtrot Racing braved the torrential rain to watch our new Foxtrot horse ‘Witness Protection’ on the gallops along with Solstice Star who did so well for them last season winning three times. Fantastically organised, as always, by Dan Abraham guests enjoyed champagne and a superb selection of fruit and pastries for breakfast as well as warm drinks which were much needed too. We also couldn’t have coped without the help of current owners David & Janne Bishop and Mary & David Cull who Belinda had arranged to help Dan as she was away Shetland Pony racing with the boys so sadly missed the morning.
We are very excited about Witness Protection and there are still a few shares available in him so do get in touch with us and we will pass on Dan’s details to you. Once again, I really cannot stress how professionally well run Foxtrot Racing is with Dan at the helm. They seem to be a very lucky bunch of owners too as their strike rate with most of their trainers last season was a very enviable one! Click HERE to find out more.
Our most recent newsletter was released on Saturday and thanks to Toby Elford for working hard with us on that. If, for some reason, you didn’t get it or wish to be put onto our mailing list for the future then please drop us an email and we will ensure that happens.
Jon and Jack Hughes were in on Saturday morning too along with Jo Stainer. Late last week John & Claire Abernethy came to see their recent Ludlow winner Capital Force and kindly took Belinda and me out to lunch at The Sheep in Stow on the Wold to celebrate his win which was lots of fun & delicious too.
It’s a run of birthdays in mid June it appears and a belated Happy Birthday to our Chairman Jon Hughes who celebrated his birthday last Friday. Today’s Happy Birthday is for Jasmin Richards who has just been promoted to Head Girl which is much deserved. She is riding in her first Charity Race on 5th July in aid of Racing Welfare at Newton Abbot and you can sponsor her by clicking HERE. Please dig deep for a wonderful charity. There are more birthdays later in the week…..!
I mentioned Shetland Pony Grand National Racing earlier – Belinda and the boys were at The South of England Show braving the elements there with Freddie’s pony Brewards Kerwen (Blackie). It’s such a brilliant experience for the children, all raising money for The Bob Champion Cancer Trust which raises such vital funds in the fight against male cancer. Freddie & Blackie have only been racing since the beginning of May and are improving all the time and notched up their second win this weekend too so are buzzing! Sadly I’ve missed both wins so am in danger of being banned from attending!
A massive congratulations to Kitty King and her stunning grey horse Vendredi Biats (part owned by Sally Lloyd-Baker who has been a successful owner with us in the past too) for their fantastic win at Bramham International Horse Trials yesterday. Kitty is the ultimate professional, works really hard and is ably supported by her mother Jane and father Peter who owns Mr Mafia. Well done to you all.
Today we are hoping the forecast heavy rain doesn’t affect the ground at Stratford too much as Bobble Emerald (Harry Stock) wouldn’t want it to go too soft. He’s returned from a year off through injury and had a wind operation after he pulled up on his return. I often find it takes at least a run for them to appreciate their wind now works well again and so I’m hopeful he’ll put in a better performance today in an albeit competitive race.
