It’s with a heavy but proud heart that I share with you all that we’ve decided to retire the legend that is Any Currency after nine fantastic years here at Condicote Stables. He’s given us some amazing days – won and been placed 14 times at Cheltenham, been to six Cheltenham Festivals and walked into the Winners’ Enclosure on four of those occasions and won over both the Cross Country course and chase course there too.
A winner of the Desert Orchid Silver Trophy at Wincanton and also at Ascot and Sandown and finished 17th in the 2013 Grand National. A fun trip to Le Lion D’Angers resulted in a 3rd in their Cross-Country race although we needed to send him 5 days early and with Freddie’s pony as company as he’s a bad traveller! A very special horse who will now go to ex-Amateur Jockey Dickie Barrett and join top team chase team Relentless which we are sure he’ll absolutely love. We’ll continue to follow him and keep in touch with Dickie and he will come back here, if it works with his competing, for our Open Days to meet his fan club!
Thanks for everything Woody – you have been a horse of a lifetime, we’ll miss you but wish you the long and happy retirement that a dude like you deserves.
One runner tonight at Exeter where Madame Fiona makes her racecourse debut under Andrew Tinkler for her breeders Roger & Yvonne Allsop. A striking grey mare, she’s pretty buzzy at home and will come on for tonight’s experience but hopefully has an engine too and will be interesting to see how she goes.
