Rain. Not what I want as both our Cheltenham hopes want better ground – a rare very wet Cheltenham which is frustrating. Yes the same for all but some love it others don’t. Our small team will hopefully go on it but would have been better on decent ground, never mind.
Rain at Stratford too ahead of their first race meeting of the season today. A further inspection at 10.30am to see if they will race. Pirate Look hoping to make his hurdling debut for us and The Jack Sparrow Syndicate. Headed by Chris Dee and her son Charlie who bought him, it’s an enthusiastic group of good friends to the yard. He’s schooled well at home and is a nice horse so today will be interesting. Solstice Star runs over hurdles in the following race under Tom Bellamy. He’ll love the ground but needs the handicapper to give him a chance I think before he is winning again but we’ll see.
A usual busy Monday here with Maggie Turner, one of our physios and Nick Partridge, our Farrier, in this morning checking the Cheltenham runners and those due to run at the weekend too.
A real buzz here and visitors due this afternoon and then throughout the week. We love seeing our owners and friends calling in on the way to the races. Whilst we’ll not have time for bacon sandwiches this week (although the full time team here will be looked after!) the kettle is always on and maybes something stronger too so don’t be put off if you fancy calling in and watching the gallops on the way.
