Can Mafia make it 5 out of 5?!

Stratford Races today with two runners. Mr Mafia steps up in grade again in a quest to win his fifth race on the bounce and retain his 100% strike rate since joining our team, all partnered by today’s jockey Harry Stock. He’s such an easy horse to have around and is so calm and well behaved and a real favourite in the yard especially with my 8 year old son Harry.

We had planned to give him a holiday following his Newton Abbot win but he hardly lost any weight and returned that night and the next day bouncing and seems in top form. Therefore I agreed with his owners that if we continued to be happy with him then he could have another run. Harry Stock is happy with how he feels and he’s been pleasing me – it is another step up in grade but he deserves his chance.

We’ve managed 5 wins in a row with both Seymour Eric and Solstice Star and it would be great if Mr Mafia could join them. Whatever happens today though, he’s done us proud and is the seasons’ winning most horse and the only horse to have won four races so far – what a feat from a horse who joined us having only won twice before and is now unbeaten for us.

Primogeniture runs before him at 2.45pm under Andrew Tinkler and also seems in good form. His owners, Sharon & Grahame Lovett, have flown over from Jersey so it will be great to catch up with them and I think Primo should have a decent chance of going close today over a more suitable trip than last time.

Both horses have had a morning out in their paddock and seem chilled and we are hopeful of a good day.
