Bobble Emerald – what a star he has been for the yard and yesterday’s win at Southwell was his fifth for us over hurdles and he did it in style making all of the running and winning ‘readily’ by six lengths under a great ride by Andrew Tinkler who knows him so well. He was keen enough yesterday but has such a high cruising speed that he did it all so easily. No surprise I’m sure that he’s a real favourite in the yard. Colin Bowkley was the lucky owner able to be there yesterday and I’m delighted he was. He’s also owned by Michael Parker and David Bishop. David and wife Janne had friends here so arranged to meet Belinda and the boys in the Hollow Bottom (after football practice!) and they took the roof off the Hollow as he galloped his rivals into submission! He’s eaten up, trotted up sound and has had a day out in the field as usual.
Most of the horses worked yesterday so an easier day today. James Nixon in to ride out a few lots. Issy went off to Gatcombe Park to collect Zara Tindall’s Somewhere To Be who has returned looking absolutely fantastic – not that I’d expect any less from Zara! She’s done plenty of cantering and schooling with him so we can crack straight on and I can’t wait to get him back on the track.
John Gent here with some friends to see Lerichi Belle and have a look around late morning and Ollie Garner arrived at the same time with a delivery of Natural Flake Shavings to keep us stocked up in bedding for a while.
‘Bank day’ today where we disinfect all the stables by piling up the bedding into the middle of the stable and applying equine disinfectant to the whole stable both inside and out. This is vital as we need to try and keep the yard as clean as possible.
