Like London buses…..! Today we have four runners at Southwell so it’s all hands on deck. Eclat Des Mottes kicks off proceedings in the opening race, a 2 miles Handicap Chase. He was so unlucky to fall at the last over fences before Christmas when looking booked for at least a solid 2nd place. He injured his hindleg quite badly that day so a lot of hard work from the team has gone into getting him right again and we hope he puts that fall behind him and puts in a similar performance up until that point. If so he should be competitive today for his supportive owners.
In the next race Batsford Stud’s Miss Antipova runs in the 3 mile Chase and will strip fitter than her re-appearance after a break last time. The better ground should suit and it’s competitive but I’d hope she’d finish nearer than her price suggests.
In the next race, the bumper, we have Brorson making his debut for us and owner David Maughan. It’s a very warm looking affair and he is certainly up against it but he’s a horse that has pleased us at home and we hope will give us all some fun with his future obviously over obstacles. He’s run in three point to points and is nicely bred. Will be very interesting and we will know far more about him after today. James Best rides him as well as the earlier two horses.
Finally in the last we run Enforcement for our Racing Club under Lilly Pinchin, who gets on well with him. The trip was too short for him last time out when he was a fast finishing 4th so the step up another half a mile and the good ground will suit him better. We are hopeful of another competitive run for our Racing Club.
