A quiet morning this morning with most horses just doing a long canter on the grass as plenty worked yesterday so today is a quieter day.
Two runners at Market Rasen. Viking Mistress runs for the Martin Keighley Racing Partnership in the Mares’ Handicap Hurdle after two runs over fences. It was too soft for her last time and the ground today is better than that and I think she will appreciate dropping back to hurdles. The form of her last run over hurdles has worked out well and I would love to get a win for the enthusiastic Racing Club Members! Andrew Tinkler rides her.
Jazzy runs in the Conditional Jockeys Handicap Hurdle under Conor Shoemark and is in good form. It’s softer than when he won last time out at Taunton so not ideal however he has acted on good to soft on the flat so let’s hope he acts on it again.
We had a visit from Lizzie Harris from Racing Welfare introducing Adam who is our new Welfare Officer for our area. Racing Welfare do such an important job looking after everyone in racing and it was fantastic to meet them both and Adam will be calling in regularly to speak to us and the team and help in any way he can. They also plan to arrange a social event for the local yards to get together in a non-racing environment which should be great fun.
I forgot to mention yesterday that Alex Steedman was in to ride out too. He is riding against Belinda in the Macmillan Best Western Hotels Charity Race at York on 17th June so there is plenty of rivalry and Alex is already a mile ahead on the fitness stakes! If you wish to sponsor Belinda you can do by clicking HERE.
Belinda will be organising a Charity Evening nearer the day with plenty of fantastic Auction Prizes which I will let you know about – people are so generous and it’s such a great cause. I will be doing a racenight too soon – details also to follow – and proceeds of that evening will be going to the race too.
