Whatalove ran a great race to finish 2nd at Kempton Park on Wednesday night delighting her owners and especially Danny O’Reilly, lead singer for Irish Band The Corona’s, who was able to be there to watch her for the first time. A fun night and we were joined by Tom Queally (who couldn’t do light enough to ride her at her featherweight) for a drink after racing and were about the last to leave the course I think!
No runners yesterday or today but always plenty to do around the yard and the whole team have been doing a spring clean and adding mowing and strimming to their list of jobs. It’s great to see them have as much pride in the yard as we have and they’ve done a superb job.
David Robinson called in late morning to organise his mare returning from a winter break. We are fortunate that we have plenty of superb pre-training yards that we work with and she will go to John Suthern near Broadway before coming back here. John always does a fabulous job and they arrive looking well and ready to go on.
Tonight is Belinda’s Race Night at the Horse & Hound Pub in Broadway to raise funds for her York Charity Race in June for Macmillan Cancer Support. Do come along even if you haven’t yet bought a ticket – they are £5 including a light supper – we can still fit more people in and you may even back a winner or two! Will be a fun event and thanks very much to our great friend Graham Hollick who has done so much to help organise it.
