Dreamsundermyfeet made it 2 wins in 7 days yesterday at Southwell when he virtually made all to win by 10 lengths under James Best to the delight of his Owners for Owners group, Jasmin and the whole team. We had to get him out quickly following last week’s win as he was unpenalised due to it being a Conditional Jockey’s race and he seemed well at home, however it’s something I don’t often like doing but my hand was forced. Despite not being as fluent over some of his obstacles and the distance being 1/2 a mile further than 7 days earlier, it was hardly ever in doubt and I now cannot wait to see him over fences. He looks every bit a chaser and has schooled well over fences at home.
Mike & Mella Wright were able to be at Southwell this week and Matt Capp again was back to the scene of last week’s win and I couldn’t be happier for all of his owners who have been so patient with him. Jasmin, my Head Girl, looks after him and rides him regularly too and she joined Belinda & myself for supper with Mike & Mella at the Coach & Horses in Longborough where they were staying last night. A good night was had by all and they were even in to watch 1st lot work this morning! Days like yesterday make it all worthwhile.
Jack and Amy Rogers were also in this morning to watch the horses on the gallops and see Herecomeshogan in the field. Paul Davis here too.
So that’s 10 winners for the season – we’ve never had 10 winners by the end of June before. We have a 19% strike rate this season and 45% strike rate (5 wins from 11 runners) in the past 14 days putting us at the top of the Hot Trainers’ table – a table we love to look at when we are ‘hot’ and never look at during those inevitable cold periods! With a £28.69 return to a £1 stake on all our horses this season, we have the best return out of the top 30 trainers of which we are currently sat in 14th.
Well done to all my team and for the support of all our owners. Last season was difficult for so many of us for so many reasons but the hard work never stops and I’m so thankful that all the hard work of the team is now being rewarded.
