As soon as we saw this 4yo, it was apparent that he had size and scope in abundance, and an excellent conformation to match. He’s a real tank of a horse and has continually impressed throughout the summer. Everyone who has sat on him, including Andrew Tinkler who gave him a racecourse gallop recently, has been highly complimentary and he is ready to go in September, starting in bumpers. At £45,000 he could be a bargain, particularly as the average for 3yo store horses at this year’s Goffs Land Rover and Tattersalls Derby sales in Ireland was c. €50,000, with many of them still immature. He has come through pre-training really well and has also shown himself to be a natural jumper. While he may have more of a Flat pedigree, he’s definitely built for the winter game.

His sire Papal Bull, trained by Sir Michael Stoute, was a high-class middle distance runner, winning over distances up to 1m 5f including the King Edward VII Stakes at Royal Ascot and Chester Vase, while coming 2nd in the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot.

Looking down the dam line there is plenty of stamina, including the really hardy Only Royale, a top-class 10-12f performer up to Gr.1 level whose nine wins included the Yorkshire Oaks and Jockey Club Stakes and who was only just beaten in the Coronation Cup at Epsom.
